Morning here I am! Got a wild hair last week and signed up for the Sketchbook Project. I need a good jump start, and kick in the butt to start drawing - anytime, anywhere - artist style! I let them randomly assign my topic - Secret Codes - imagine the possibilities! So my little brown book arrived and I sit this fine Sunday morning just contemplating those possibilities. Contemplation, the great procrastinator. Next a pencil, a pen... it's a mess in this kitchen.... oh look the floor needs vacuuming... and there I go... off to do a chore in lieu of cracking open this lovely little brown book. Seize the day. Oh boy.

Monday Morning Sun is Shining...
Monday morning here I come. Big plans... to do list is the kind you pull out of your pocket, shake out and it falls to a length that hits the floor! Best to keep this post short, with so much to do! My sister and I keep talking about the tickle on your neck you feel, when something deliciously crafty or artsy is about to burst forth out of your heart. Now if only we can rope it in with the old brain and get to it! I think it's the approach of Autumn that does it... though we are Leo girls and fire signs, we are earthy girls to the depths of our souls! So let's get to it sister! Woooohooooo!

Inspiration comes at the strangest times...
Yesterday after taking a shower, I noticed that my feet had left a lovely impression on the bath mat. of a little pumpkin head girl in a long dress with curled up feet, sitting in a chair. Dripping, I ran for paper and pencil to sketch her out. Oh my... some days are so strange. Got me going though. Armed with said inspiration, I molded a little pumpkin head for a doll that has been sitting headless, for a number of months now! AND - got my primitive homemade backgammon board roughed out and a first coat of paint on it. I feel sooooo much better. Nothing like a good shower!

Garden Magic
I took a walk in the yard today and once again was amazed at what a little rain and cooler temperatures can do. Magic. Wrote this poem a while back for a project I worked on for a charity auction... it fits the day today:
There was magic in my garden this past night, a spell was cast on winter’s gloom.
For how else does a seed, a spore, a root or vine so stealthily creep?
Flowers unfurl a scent so divine and trees are lush with shielding leaves.
The fruit don coats in brilliant shades and mushrooms ring the dewy grass.
Was it called upon the wind, or was the rain bestowed the honor?
Was it spun upon the wings of bees or sent as a song among the trees?
I know at last how it was cast. The Garden King and his dear Queen held court.
And there beneath the moon, my garden did so finely bloom.

Here We Go Again
It's a little cool today... makes me think of the school supply list... pencils, paste, crayons, oil cloth for the desk.. oh my the smells. Time to head for my "art area" in the basement. Maybe I'll make my own supply list today... if you buy it you will build it? Does that work?

It's Good to be Green!
Big day today it's my half birthday! Finally worked on some dolls after a long, long dry spell. These may be my oddest yet! I'm obsessed lately with the Green Man - and now he's worked his way into my dolls. These are still works in progress, so be kind! Behold the King and Queen of all that is Green....
